Test Description:

ASTM B-117 & BS-3900-F4 Corrosion Resistance Test

  • The test was performed on a bright red panel. No loss of gloss, rusting, blistering or other failure. This test provides a controlled corrosive environment which produces relative corrosion resistance information. The salt spray (fog) duration was for 1000 hours.

REMARKS / RESULTS: No loss of gloss, rusting, blistering or other failure.

Tested By: Peter J. Rice Associates

Test Description:

ASTM D-3359 Crosshatch Adhesion Test

  • A lattice pattern with either six or eleven cuts in each direction is made in the film on the substrate; pressure-sensitive tape is then applied over the lattice pattern and then removed; adhesion is then assessed qualitatively on a scale of 0 to 5.

REMARKS / RESULTS: Rating of 5. This is the best rating obtainable for that method.

Tested By: Bodycote Technitrol Inc

Test Description:

ASTM D-2246 Humidity - Thermal Cycle Cracking Test

  • This test method provides an accelerated means of determining the tendency of a coating to fail by cracking when exposed to humidity-thermal cycling. The samples were tested for 10 hot and cold cycles (23 degrees to 38 degrees C) at 100% relative humidity.

REMARKS / RESULTS: No cracking. No blistering. No peeling.

Tested By: Bodycote Technitrol Inc

Test Description:

ASTM G-26 & BS 3900-F3 BS (British Standards) Artificial Weathering Test.

  • Accelerated weathering test I xenon arc. Both these tests consist of a cyclical test of wet conditions followed by dry conditions, as well as ultraviolet exposure, designed to represent exposure to variable realistic climate conditions. The test samples were exposed for 1000 hours.

REMARKS / RESULTS: No cracking, no blistering, and no peeling. Very good gloss retention was recorded.

Tested By: Peter J. Rice Associates & Bodycote Technitrol Inc

Test Description:

ASTM D4541 Tensile (pull off) Adhesion

  • (PATTI) on a substrate of gel coat fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), the adhesion of the AST D45 Exceeded the cohesion strength of the FRP laminate. (avg. PSI 597.7; range 529.6 - 713.3)

REMARKS / RESULTS: Using Pneumatic Adhesion Tensile Testing Instrument

Tested By: KAT-TATOR Inc

Test Description:

ASTM D3363 Pencil Hardness

REMARKS / RESULTS: The pencil hardness of the AST D45 on Fiberglass reinforced Plastic (FRP) laminate and gel coat was evaluated at 2 H.

Tested By: KAT-TATOR Inc.
