EcoKote for Marine Wood is a moisture barrier (water repellent) but not a vapor barrier.

The problem with current marine wood coatings is that they "seal" the wood. While this sounds correct, the problem is that wood, especially teak, needs to "breathe". Because competing products seal the wood, water and other vapors under the coating begin to build up and cause blisters, peeling, and cracking of the coating. Once that happens, the environment will do the rest. The coatings start to deteriorate due to environmental attack, the wood begins to look bad, and you must begin the process all over again.

EcoKote for Marine Wood coatings adhere to Marine Wood directly. They are self-priming and require very little prep work. Unlike other coatings, our products do not require enclosed environments, nor are there extensive preparations involved prior to applying the first coat.
